AIR is a key member of the Education Statistics Services Institute Network (ESSIN), a network of companies that provide the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) with expert advice and technical assistance.

AIR contributes expertise to NCES’ national and international activities in four main areas:

• Statistical methodology research
• Analysis and reporting
• Survey development
• Project support

AIR-led ESSIN tasks include

• adapting rapidly to changing priorities and policy foci;
• incorporating the latest scientific advances in how statistical and assessment studies are designed, fielded, analyzed, and reported; and
• responding to the changing needs of data users.
