The Southwestern Region is 20.6 million acres. Fourth graders nationwide are eligible for a free pass that will give access to most federal lands and waters for them and their families. Fourth grade students can visit the "Every Kid in a Park" website to get their pass.
The Forest Service has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Four Forest Restoration Initiative (4FRI) that analyzes almost a million acres on the Coconino and Kaibab National Forests and proposes forest restoration treatments over a 10-year period.
