Chandrayaan-1

Chandrayaan-1 was an Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) mission designed to orbit the Moon over a two-year period with the objectives of upgrading and testing India's technological capabilities in space and returning scientific information on the lunar surface.
On August 31, 2009, the ISRO announced that the Chandrayaan-1 mission has been officially terminated after contact was lost abruptly at 20:00 UT on 28 August, 2009.

Chandrayaan-1 carried five Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) instruments and six instruments from other space agencies including the European Space Agency, Bulgarian Aerospace Agency, and NASA. The PDS Imaging Node archives the Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M³) science data. ISRO is the lead for archiving and can provide information about responsibilities for other instruments at:

The M³ is an imaging spectrometer with high spectral and spatial resolution, reliably uniform results, and a high signal-to-noise ratio. The instrument detects electromagnetic radiation covering visible and near-infrared spectral regions. The M³ data sets are produced by the M³ Team at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena.
