Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) Solar Wind Electron Analyzer (SWEA) Calibrated PDS Archive Bundle LID = urn:nasa:pds:maven.swea.calibrated Bundle Description ================== Overview -------- The swea.calibrated Level 2 Science Data Bundle contains fully calibrated data in physical units, consisting of energy/angle (3D) distributions, pitch angle distributions (PADs), and omni-directional energy spectra. Version History --------------- Bundle Modification Version Date Description ------- ------------ --------------------------------------------------- 1.0 2015-06-05 MAVEN Release 1 (2015-06-05) 2.0 2015-08-14 MAVEN Release 2 (Updated Calibration) (2015-08-17) 2.1 2015-11-16 MAVEN Release 3 (2015-11-16) 2.2 2016-02-11 MAVEN Release 4 (2016-02-15) 2.3 2016-05-16 MAVEN Release 5 (2016-05-16): Consists of an incremental release of SWEA calibrated data, including both Mars orbital science data and pre-science ops cruise and Mars approach data. Coverage for the 3D and Spectral data sets is 2014-03-19 to 2016-02-14. Coverage for the PAD data sets is limited to when calibrated MAG data are available, or 2014-10-10 to 2016-02-14. 2.4 2016-08-10 MAVEN Release 6 (2016-08-15): This version is an incremental release including the initial release of 2015-02-15 to 2015-05-14. 2.5 2016-11-29 MAVEN Release 7 (2016-11-15): This released consists of a full redelivery of SWEA data going back to the beginning of the mission, and including the initial release of 2015-05-15 to 2015-08-14. Updates include a new calibration (based upon in-flight calibrations), improvements to the overall sensitivity, and to the energy and angular responses, including corrections for parts of the FOV that are only partially blocked (clipped) by the spacecraft. Completely blocked sectors have already been marked as invalid. Data Processing Notes ===================== Data Timing Uncertainty ----------------------- Some of the data files in this bundle may extend beyond the time for which the Spacecraft Clock (SCLK) drift rate was defined based upon the SPICE MAVEN SCLK kernel used to process them. As a result the SCLK drift rate may have been predicted, resulting in small errors in the time (typically less than a few 1/100's seconds). Where this may be the case a note has been included in the individual PDS product labels. Bundle Contents =============== Collections ----------- This bundle includes the following collections: * Survey 3D - Energy/angle (3D) distributions in units of differential energy flux (eV/cm**2 sec ster eV) from SWEA survey data (LID = urn:nasa.pds:maven.swea.calibrated:data.svy_3d) * Archive 3D - Energy/angle (3D) distributions in units of differential energy flux (eV/cm**2 sec ster eV) from SWEA archive data (LID = urn:nasa.pds:maven.swea.calibrated:data.arc_3d) * Survey PAD - Pitch angle distributions in units of differential energy flux (eV/cm**2 sec ster eV) from SWEA survey data (LID = urn:nasa.pds:maven.swea.calibrated:data.svy_pad) * Archive PAD - Pitch angle distributions in units of differential energy flux (eV/cm**2 sec ster eV) from SWEA archive data (LID = urn:nasa.pds:maven.swea.calibrated:data.arc_pad) * Survey Spectra - Omni-directional energy spectra in units of differential energy flux (eV/cm**2 sec ster eV) from SWEA survey data (LID = urn:nasa.pds:maven.swea.calibrated:data.svy_spec) * Archive Spectra - Omni-directional energy spectra in units of differential energy flux (eV/cm**2 sec ster eV) from SWEA archive data (LID = urn:nasa.pds:maven.swea.calibrated:data.arc_spec) * Document - Documents related to the swea.calibrated bundle. (LID = urn:nasa:pds:maven.swea.calibrated:document) Data File Naming ---------------- Data files in this bundle are named according to the following convention: mvn_swe_l2__
_v_r.cdf where: = A descriptor used to identify the data file type = 4-digit year of data coverage date = 2-digit month of year of data coverage date
= 2-digit day of month of data coverage date = 2-digit software version = 2-digit data file version under the specified software version Key Documents ============= Mitchell, D.L., MAVEN SWEA PDS Archive SIS - This document describes the format and content of the Solar Wind Electron Analyzer (SWEA) Planetary Data System (PDS) data archive. It includes descriptions of the data products and associated metadata, and the archive format, content, and generation pipeline.. It is located in the document collection for this bundle (LID = urn:nasa:pds:maven.swea.calibrated:document). Contacts ======== This volume was produced for the Planetary Data System (PDS) at the Planetary Plasma Interactions (PPI) node at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The data files were generated by Dr. David Mitchell at the Space Sciences Laboratory (SSL) at the University of California (Berkeley). The data were delivered to the PPI node via the MAVEN Science Data Center (SDC) located at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) in Boulder, Colorado. The PDS metadata were generated at the PPI node.
