Washington D.C. Weather |
Early April weather in the Nation's Capitol can be quite cool. While snow is unlikely, conditions can range from Sunny with mild temperatures in the mid 60 degree range to rainy with very cool evening temperatures in the 40 degree range. If you plan to make a walking tour of the National Mall or other nearby attractions, be prepared to dress accordingly.
Transportation |
Washington DC has a light rail/subway system called the Metro, operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. Maps, schedules, alerts, and accessibility can be found at their website: http://www.wmata.com/ . The L'Enfant Plaza station served by the Metro's Orange, Blue, Yellow, Green lines is the stop nearest to the meeting hotel.
When exiting L'Efant metro station off of the Green or Yellow line, take the Maryland and 7th Street exit. The 4th and D Street exit is closed due to construction.
Attractions |
The meeting hotel is across the street from NASA Headquarters. NASA HQ has a store/gift shop that is open Mon.-Thur. 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Fri. 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The meeting is also not far from the National Air and Space Museum. No doubt most attendees have visited NASM before, but it's proximity may inspire some to go there for some holiday shopping at its gift shops. The other Smithsonian Museums on the National Mall have their own interesting shops. A few of our favorites are in the National Gallery of Art, the American History Museum, and the Sackler Gallery.
