GRSFE - The Geologic
Remote Sensing Field Experiment
The Geologic Remote Sensing Field
Experiment (GRSFE, 1990) used NASA aircraft to acquire
data at visible through microwave wavelengths over
targets in the southwestern United States that are
useful analogs of the surfaces of other planets
(Arvidson et al., 1991). While the airborne data were
being acquired, ground-based measurements were made at
the target sites to provide calibration and ground truth
data. The intent of GRSFE was to develop comprehensive
datasets to test models for estimating the properties of
planetary surfaces. Data from the experiments was
archived on a set of nine CD-ROMs produced by the PDS
Geosciences Node.
